Howard down to four

Three-star defensive tackle prospect Carl Howard from Matawan, N.J., visited Maryland over the weekend and liked what he saw. He has now taken two trips, and has two others planned, then will make his decision out of those four schools.
“It went really well,” he commented on hi Maryland visit. “I liked the way they practiced. I liked the way it was run, and the drills they used, and the way they run up tempo.” He was hosted by junior defensive tackle Randy Starks and rated the trip an eight.

Carl has now visited Maryland and Rutgers and will visit NC State on Jan. 16 and Virginia Tech on Jan. 23 before making his final selection. His relationship with the coaches will be his deciding factor. He has had recent in-home visits with NC State and Virginia Tech.
Howard is rated the No. 26 defensive tackle in the country by Rivals.com and stands 6-foot-4, weighs 295 pounds, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.9 seconds. As a senior he recorded 75 tackles (12 for loss), ten sacks, eight tipped passes and four forced fumbles.
