How solid is Matt Allen

Klein (Texas) Collins offensive lineman Matt Allen was the first shoe to drop at the talent-rich Houston school. He grabbed the headlines, committing to LSU, before the Michael Goodson sweepstakes got heated up.
He will be several months before the commitment of Franklin Mitchem.

But will his commitment to the Tigers stick?
Allen unofficially visited Oklahoma last week to see what his second favorite college football team had in store.
"It was nice up there," he said. "The are losing a bunch of inside offensive linemen next year and I really needed to check it out to be sure in my decision. The coaches were great and really down to earth. Oklahoma was in my top two and I owed it to myself to go up to the campus."
Allen, a first-team, all-district selection, was one of LSU's first verbal commits for 2006, so does this trip put Les Miles' in danger of losing one of Texas' most coveted athletes.
"I don't think I'll take anymore visits anywhere else," he said. "I'm keeping my options open a little, but I still want to go to LSU. That's where I want to go."
While his future is a little fuzzy, his focus for his senior season is rock solid.
"I am going to make all-state this year," he said. "I thought I would have last year. And I want to play in the U.S. Army game in San Antonio. As a team, we've been working hard and I want to go far in the playoffs."
Allen will be in attendance tonight at Michael Goodson's announcement on KPRC's Sports Sunday. He is there for support only, he said.
