*****

Recruiting: After official visits to Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and USC, Godwin committed to the Bulldogs on National Signing Day. He played quarterback for his high school team and some teams were recruiting him at cornerback.

Performance: In 12 games this season, Godwin has 20 receptions for 340 yards and three TDs while averaging 17 yards per catch. As a junior, he was second on the team with 38 catches for 639 yards and six scores.

Farrell’s take: Godwin has been solid at Georgia, but he hasn’t broken through as a five-star player. Out of high school he was dynamic and fast, although he was a bit undersized. He could have played wide receiver or cornerback at the college level, which is why we listed him as an athlete.

*****

Recruiting: McCloud committed to Clemson before the start of his senior season despite late pushes by Auburn, USF and others.

Performance: In three seasons at Clemson, McCloud totaled 127 catches for 1,226 yards and four touchdowns. He left the Tigers after his junior season and he was a sixth-round selection by the Buffalo Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Farrell’s take: McCloud showed flashes of his five-star ability at Clemson, but he didn’t have a five-star career. I think he left for the NFL too soon, but he was drafted and has stuck in the NFL so far, so that’s good. In high school he was dynamic with the ball in his hands and could make anyone miss.

*****

Recruiting: About three months after National Signing Day, Robertson committed to Cal over Georgia, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame. He played at Cal for two seasons and then transferred to Georgia.

Performance: In nine games this season, Robertson had four carries for 109 yards and a touchdown. He did not register any catches. The former five-star had 50 catches for 767 yards and seven scores in his freshman season at Cal.

Farrell’s take: Robertson was a dynamic receiver out of high school who could have also played defensive back. He started off his career in great fashion as a freshman at Cal but has since regressed and bit and his career has not turned out as expected just yet.

*****

Recruiting: Hardman had “decoy cakes” of Tennessee, Michigan, Florida and Clemson on the table during his announcement ceremony, but Georgia won out for his services. Alabama was considered the leader when Kirby Smart was in Tuscaloosa, but when he got the Bulldogs’ job, Georgia jumped ahead.

Performance: Second on the team in catches (33) and touchdown catches (six) this season, Hardman led Georgia with 529 receiving yards as he averaged 16 yards per reception.

Farrell’s take: Hardman has been a deep threat for Georgia and really emerged his season, showing he could score from anywhere - as he did in high school. He didn’t have great size coming out but he was dynamic as a wideout and cornerback.
