Houston teammates headed to Rice

Rice University received verbal commitments from two Jersey Village (Texas) Falcons over the past week.
Linebacker Trey Briggs and offensive lineman Bobby Janisch committed to the Owls after a solid spring and hitting the college camp circuit.

"I started hearing from Rice pretty early and they came out in the spring and offered," Briggs said. "After they offered, I was really keeping my options open before I went to a mini-camp over there. I saw the campus and was very impressed and the education can really set you up for life. I didn't see any other school being able to offer the total package that Rice could."
The 6-foot-2 linebacker had a tremendous sophomore season but suffered from bone spurs in his heels last year.
"It was tough last season and I played on them," he said. "I'm 100-percent healed and they are giving me no trouble. I'm ready to get going for my senior season and have high expectations."
His 6-foot-6 teammate also made his intentions known, much to the pleasure of Briggs.
"Yeah, Bobby committed and it's going to be great to have him there at the same time," he said. "It will be nice to be going through all this new stuff with a friend."
