Houston picks San Diego State

Three-star tight end Parker Houston visited a few schools in recent months and drew his share of looks during the spring evaluation period, but he arrived at a decision Thursday and announced his commitment to San Diego State.
Citing the Southern California weather and campus, the 6-foot-4, 220-pound prospect from Sparks (Nev.) Reed ended his recruitment and pledged to the Aztecs.

"The reason why I picked San Diego State is because of the challenging academics, the great coaches and the successful football," Houston said. "Coach Jeff Horton recruited me and the thing that stood out for me was the position they're going to put me at. I feel like it will open up more opportunities for me than a true tight end."
Houston, the No. 2-rated prospect in Nevada for the 2016 class according to Rivals.com, said he has big expectations for the H-back roll Horton has laid out for him. He settled on San Diego State while also considering the likes of Boise State, Idaho, Louisville and Toledo.
With the decision out of the way, the main focus for Houston is on making another run at state. He said he's completely solid to the Aztecs and doesn't intend to look around.
"One thing that stood out for me was what coach Adam Hall said to me, 'When you make a decision you stick with that decision and have no second thoughts about it,'" Houston said. "That's what I plan on doing,"
Houston, one of the better tight ends at the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour stop in Las Vegas four months ago, had 40 receptions for 524 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior last season.
