Houston LB staying local

After being committed to Tulane and de-committing late last week, the final decision is now out in the open for the Alief (Texas) Taylor linebacker Cheta Ozougwu.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder has taken official visits to Louisiana Tech and Rice in the last few weeks. One of those schools had everything he was looking for and that helped him make a Thursday evening decision.

"My family and I talked it over and we decided that Rice was the best fit," Ozougwu said. "I told them I was committing to their school when I talked to the defensive coordinator."
Rice fit the profile for Ozougwu in several ways.
"First of all, it's their academics," Ozougwu said. "I feel like if I don't make it to the league, I have something to fall back on. Second of all, I like the playing time opportunity. That's all I ask for is an opportunity to compete as a freshman.
"Thirdly, it was socially the best place for me. I hung out with some of the players and it just felt right."
Ozougwu says that he's also looking forward to having family near him in the Houston area.
"From the first time I walked on campus, it just fit me," he said.
