Gardena (Calif.) Serra is always loaded with talent and one of the top players at that school in the 2015 class is linebacker John Houston.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound outside linebacker shined at the Passing Down Best of the West 7on7 tournament this past weekend in Santa Maria, Calif., and if he continues to play so well he'll be the highlight of many camps in the coming years.
Houston is big, physical, muscular and moves well for a player his size. With pads on, the Serra standout could be even tougher.
"I'm excited because this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to do this so I'm just going at it as hard as I can," Houston said.
"It's important to get the grades first. That's most important for me. I do my thing on the field and that's a major thing, too."
Colorado is the only school showing interest in Houston at this point but there's no question he has the physical skills to be a major Pac-12 recruit as his high school career continues.
Houston said he's thrilled to hear from Colorado so far and since it's so incredibly early in his recruitment he'll remain open to all programs.
"Colorado is just checking me out and telling me they're going to keep an eye on me," Houston said. "It's exciting to already get some recruiting mail.
"I would like to see any letter from anybody."
