Houston in no rush

John Houston is focused on another big season and the 2015 linebacker said it's far too early for favorites or to think about any serious visits this year.
The Gardena (Calif.) Serra linebacker already has an impressive offer list and is widely regarded as one of the top 2015 prospects in the country so Houston wants to slow things down, take his time and not rush anything too soon.

Florida State and Washington are the two latest offers for Houston, who shined at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour in Chicago this summer, and he said both programs will be seriously considered.
"They're both excellent programs," Houston said. "They're both doing big things and putting people in the NFL and the education is great."
Other than those two offers, Houston also has Florida, Miami, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Oregon State, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington State on the board.
Taking his time is the focus right now.
"I'm keeping it open," Houston said. "I'm looking at academic programs first and then the football teams. I want to look at the all-around school."
It has been relatively slow recently for Houston, who said there has not been much new interest in recent weeks.
The 2015 prospect is considering trips to USC and UCLA this fall - he has not been there yet for fall camp - but other than that nothing much is planned.
"I'm taking it slow," he said.
