Houston holding on to Okafor

While Westbury offensive tackle Mickey Okafor verbally committed to the University of Houston in the summer, the Cougars will have to fight off two Big 12 schools to officially sign him.
Okafor (6-6, 290-pounds) officially visited UTEP two weeks ago and trips to Texas Tech and Oklahoma State are ensuing.

"I really like Oklahoma State and Texas Tech," he said. "I'm thinking I might want to get out of the city."
Kansas State has also offered Okafor, who has become academically eligible with a solid SAT score.
"He is having a good season and is a great kid," Westbury coach Scott Joseph said. "He has given up basketball and has really focuses on football this summer and fall.
"He's a great pass blocker and plays well in the stand-up position," he said. "Any system that does that with their linemen is a good fit."
Westbury teammate and Texas verbal commit Russell Carter still remains solid with the Longhorns.
