Houston DE getting ready for the rush

There is a sleeper prospect at Houston (Texas) Spring Woods picking up interest as recruitment gets going in February.
The 6-foot-2, 230-pound weakside defensive end Kevin Brothers will be one to watch in the class of 2007 for the talent-rich area of Houston. Letters have been rolling in and he's getting himself ready for a big recruiting process.

"I've been getting letters from a lot of schools just talking about their program," Brothers said. "Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Houston, and some others have been sending stuff. Illinois is also in there along with Iowa."
While his interest grows, Brothers says it has a lot to do with his breakout year as a junior.
"It really was better than I thought it would be," Brothers said. "I was proud of how I did this past year. I kind of grew as a player and exceeded my expectations.
Off the field, academics will play a big role in his college decision. Brothers is wasting no time with his research on where might be the best place for his choice of major.
"I really would like to go to Texas A&M because they have a great agricultural department that I'd like to get involved with," Brothers said. "They're at the top of my list for that. Plus, it's close to my family's ranch so I wouldn't be far from home."
With the Aggies as his current favorites, his camp plans are already shaping up.
"I'm planning on going to A&M's camp, the UTEP, Texas Tech, and Texas camps if I can make it," he said. "I'm not picky yet about colleges. It's really about whoever shows me interest. If I even have to go out of state, I'll do it."
Brothers was a second-team all-district selection this past season.
