Houston DB heading to the Islands

If things keep up, the Hawaii Warriors are going to have an all-Lone Star State defensive backfield.
Hawaii received a commitment from Houston Yates cornerback Jeremiah Alexander on Tuesday. The 5-foot-7, 175-pound prospect picked off nine passes as a junior, earning all-district honors in 2006. Last season the Warriors signed defensive backs Ryan Mouton and Erik Robinson from the Lone Star State.

"I talked to Jeff Reinebold at Hawaii today, and I committed," Alexander said. "I just think their whole program fits me. I really like their whole program. Mostly I see the teamwork they have and it's not a bad situation for me at all. I don't see anything about them that I don't like."
Alexander hasn't been to Hawaii yet for a visit, but he said he'll be out sometime in September for an official visit. He was also recruited by Colorado, Oklahoma State and Duke, but he said Hawaii was his only offer.
"Coach Reinebold is a really cool guy," Alexander said. "He got me really excited about their program. My parents aren't worried about me being gone that far away. They were really excited and proud of my decision."
So what type of player is Hawaii getting?
Yates defensive coordinator Jeff Ceasar said Alexander has a big upside.
"Jeremiah is a good cover corner and could play safety if needed," Ceasar said. "He can run, hit and also be a return specialist at the next level. He's really talented."
