Houston DB has first offers

Aldine (Texas) Nimitz was a hot spot for college recruiters this spring with the emergence of athlete Michael Thomas.
While Thomas has offers from dozens of prominent programs, his teammate Ray Anthony Long picked up three offers late in the spring.

Long (6-foot-1, 205 pounds) is a rangy safety who earned second-team, all-district honors after an impressive junior campaign.
After a successful spring football and track season, Long earned offers from California, Arkansas and Buffalo several weeks ago.
"I knew I would get offers, but I didn't know how soon," Long said. "I really like the three school that have offered me, and Arizona and Arizona State.
"I'm also hearing from New Mexico State, Nebraska, Missouri and Air Force. I want to visit some schools, so I will probably commit during the football season."
The versatile Long, who reached the regional state track meet in the 4x100 relay, will play on the offensive side of the ball next year as a receiver.
"I think I'll play both ways next year, but I know my future is at safety," Long said. "I love watching Ed Reed and Brian Dawkins play the position. I try and pattern my game after them."
