Houston corner has covered them all

Houston Yates defensive back Frank Newton has seen them all and covered them all.
Newton (5 feet 8, 165-pounds) has been a three-year starter for the Lions and has blanketed some to the city's top receivers over the years. Who is the best?

"(Jeremy) Broadway was the best," he said. "He was so physical and fast, he was the toughest guy to hold. I did have two picks that game though. I see he's getting some playing time at Oklahoma State right now. I knew he would. (Brandon) LaFell wasn't bad either."
Newton had seven interceptions entering his senior season, which was to be his break out year. An offseason car accident slowed his progress, where he sufferd a bruised kidney, knee injury and a sprained neck.
"My brakes just went out and it was a bad wreck," he said. "I was walking with a cane for a long time this spring."
A coaching change also put Yates behind schedule. The Lions hired former player Clarence McKinney late and Yates did not have an offseason last spring. Now healthy and making a playoff run, Newton and Yates are making up for lost time.
"I like our defense and I get to cover our opponents best receiver," he said. "I also have some responsibilities to stop the run and have been able to cheat because teams aren't throwing at me."
Schools such as Houston and North Texas have been courting Newton but no offers have been mailed.
"I'd like to stay in Texas to play football," he said. "But if I don't get offered by them, I'll play at a smaller school out of state."
Who's the best he's covered this season?
"The big kid at Wheatley (Cornelius Robinson) will be good next year," he said. "He's only a junior."
