Houston CB grabs Big Ten offer

Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair saw a resurgence this past season after being down for a few years. It is no surprise then that the Bobcats have quite a few college prospects on the team. The latest to emerge is cornerback Dwight White.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound defender put on a solid showing at the Houston Under Armour combine in April and followed that up with strong spring practices. Recently he picked up his first FBS offer from a Big Ten program.
"I went up to camp at Northwestern a few days ago, on (June) 14," White said. "That was kind of like my final evaluation. At the end of the camp they took me on a tour and I got to meet with all the coaches. They ended up offering me after the camp.

"Southeastern Louisiana came out to my school this spring. They just offered me on the phone randomly one day. That was my first offer. They used their one phone call to offer me. That was cool."
White liked what he saw at Northwestern.
"So far it's probably the nicest campus I've seen," he said. "I really enjoyed everything. They have great facilities and a good coaching staff. I like the way they operate."
With one FBS offer under his belt, several more could be on the way for White as well in the near future.
"I've been to a few other camps," he said. "I've been to Baylor, UTSA, SMU and Texas State. I'm actually in Colorado right now. I'm going to the Air Force camp here on Friday. Baylor, I'm working with them right now. They want to see me at another camp in July (before offering). I'm really not sure on the others. You never can tell. I've thought I was close to offers before that didn't end up coming."
With the recruiting process truly just starting for White, he has yet to develop a list of favorites.
"Not necessarily," he said. "I'm just trying to stay close to the schools that have offered or I have a potential offer from. Basically the camps I went to I just went there to perform for their coaches. I feel like when the camp season is over here in about a week I should see some of them offer."
