Houston athlete picks up three

CYPRESS, Texas - Cypress Woods (Texas) High School had a tremendous first year on the varsity level under coach David Jones. The Wildcats finished 8-3, reaching the third round of the state playoffs.
So what will they do for an encore? Cypress Woods loses quarterback Lucas Devilliers, who threw for over 2,500 yards and 23 touchdowns last year. They also lose defensive tackle Justin Washington, who is headed to the University of Arizona.

Coach Jones does have a jack-of-all-trades returning in athlete Bryce Callahan, who has turned heads during spring football. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Swiss Army knife returns kicks, catches passes and stars on defense.
"He's just a talented football player," Jones said. "Everyone wants him to be over 6 feet, but he's not right now. He's versatile and is our team's best all-around athlete. He'll be a good one on the next level. He's great in space on offense and is a tremendous cover corner."
Rice, Miami (Ohio) and the University of Texas-El Paso have offered Callahan this spring and more suitors will evaluate him during the fall.
"There has been a lot of traffic on him this spring and I think more schools will be in on him," Jones said. "He's pretty wide open from what I can tell and will play anywhere the coaches tell him to in college. He's just a great kid."
