Favorite Schools: Texas, Penn State, Arizona and Arkansas are among the many schools expressing interest in Funchess.
Skinny: "You name them and they are recruiting him," Dickinson coach Warren Trahan said of his standout signal caller. "Texas, Penn State, Arizona and Arkansas are at the top of the list right now. There are a lot of schools showing a lot of interest though."
For Trahan it is easy to see why those schools are showing interest.
"Mike has a big-time arm. He is exactly what you want in a drop-back passer. He's big. He's a tough kid. He'll stand in there and take a hit. When he throws the ball, it is accurate too. A lot of guys can wing it down the field. But Mike does that and puts it where he wants it to be."
Trahan doesn't want to give the impression his quarterback is not able to move around though.
"Mike isn't a running quarterback. But he can run the ball well. He's not just sitting back there. He can move around if need be and keep from getting sacked."
Trahan feels comfortable with Funchess on the field running the team's offense.
"He'll be in his third year of starting for us this fall. He knows what I want him to do out there. So that is one thing I don't have to worry about. He knows what I want and what I expect of him."
