Horns call first for Texas DE

Lufkin, Texas defensive end McKinner Dixon has had a busy evening with the phone ringing.

“I’m on the other line with Kansas State right now,” the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Dixon said. “It’s been a very busy evening. There have been quite a few calls. Florida, Nebraska, Kansas State and Texas have all called me.”

While four schools have called, the four-star’s home, his favorite school was first to do so.

“I’m a little closer to a decision. I was trying to see which coach called me first. Coach (Mac) McWhorter called me at 12:01 a.m. this morning. That set real well. It surprised me, but it was nice.

“I think I’m close to making a decision. Texas is still at the top of my list, but I’m trying to see what everyone has to offer me. I haven’t set up any official visits. I’ll take them all after my season even if I commit. You never know what might happen on a visit that makes you think that might be the place for you to go in college.”
