“I was up at TCU last Thursday, and I finally went ahead and committed,” Navasota, Texas, running back Chris Smith said.
“Well, actually I committed to them a while back, and then de-committed to think about things some more and then when I went up there I saw everything that I needed to. I’m very excited and ready to play for the coaches up there.”
Smith, who measured 5-foot-11 and 218 pounds at the College Station NIKE Training Camp, rushed for 1,710 yards and 13 scores as a junior. He describes himself as a power runner, but after clocking a 4.51-second time in a driving rainstorm at the camp he also has plenty of speed.
“I’m not your all-purpose back,” Smith, an all-district pick as a junior, said. “I’m a power back that has a little speed. You get me the ball, and I’ll get you some yards.”
