Horn plans to make pledge official

Tyler Horn has offered his verbal commitment to Boise State and this weekend on an official visit the Meridian (Idaho) Mountain View defensive end expects the Broncos' coaching staff to accept it after reviewing his first-semester grades.
"They said they'll give me that verbal commitment as soon as I'm done with the semester," said Horn, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound recruit.

"I'm going on my official visit and once they get all my grades and everything they're just going to do it then. It's kind of a relief just because I've been waiting for this to happen. It's a big weight off my shoulders."
Many things drove Horn to Boise State including the program's increased national prominence after its undefeated season.
Some have talked about the Broncos being national-title contenders next season and that's good news to Horn, who had 50 tackles and 14 sacks this year. He likes that Boise State is in the national conversation.
"I love the program and the coaches there are really awesome," Horn said. "Possibly competing for a national championship now, that was a big one, too.
"It's pretty important just because they're competing to be the best team in the nation, that's a big deal and especially being able to be a part of something like that would be awesome."
Familiarity with the program also led Horn, originally from Lake Elsinore, Calif., to Boise State.
He attended all the home games this season, has a good relationship with defensive line coach Pete Kwiatkowski, camped at Boise State last summer and has even played a few high school games on the famous Blue Turf.
So watching Boise State beat TCU, 17-10, in the Fiesta Bowl during the holidays was a big deal. Both teams entered that game undefeated.
"That was awesome for them because everyone was saying TCU has it, not even looking at Boise State," said Horn, who was used as a blocking tight end late in the season. "I was pretty confident they would win."
Although Horn, who also forced five fumbles and had four fumble recoveries this past season, said he's "pretty stuck" on Boise State right now, he's still planning to visit Utah and Utah State before National Signing Day.
Both visits are tentatively schedule for the weekend of Jan. 29. The Utes have recently increased their interest in Horn, who said he's also talking to Idaho and some other schools.
