Hopkins another name in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – New names always pop up in St. Louis every summer and one new name that first caught recruiters' eyes at the Columbus NIKE Training Camp is St. Louis Oakville defensive end/tight end John Hopkins.
The 6-foot-1, 218-pounder was at Missouri's one-day camp in St. Louis on Sunday, he definitely passed the eyeball test and his stock has apparently been moving up the list with several St. Louis recruiters.

"I think most teams are recruiting me at defensive end," Hopkins, who ran a 4.9 at the NIKE Camp and again at the Missouri camp, said.
"I'm a hard worker that's trying to get out to several camps and show the coaches what I have. I think once the coaches see me in person, they're going to like what I have."
So far three schools have liked him enough to offer him a scholarship. He has offers from Indiana, Michigan State and Northern Illinois. He also talked to Missouri in May and will try to make stops at Northern and Michigan State in the next few weeks for camp. He is expected to make a trip to Columbia, Mo., for the Tigers' team camp.
"I'm going to sit back and see how the process goes," Hopkins said. "I know that the school will have to have a good education. I want to major in electrical engineering, so that's something a school must have."
