"I called Coach Kevin Johns," Smith said. "He was really excited and he wanted to have me talk to Coach Wilson and everything. I haven't talked to him yet."
Why did Smith choose IU?
"It's not too far away and the campus is really nice. I felt like when I visited there the coachings taff and everybody was family. It felt right, I was very comfortable there."
Indiana has recruited Smith as a safety. Several other schools were interested but in the end the 6-foot-2, 164-pound prospect knew where he wanted to be.
"They're the school that's showed me interest and support throughout the whole process," he said. "I visited once a few months ago. I liked how the campus was set up and everything. I thought the area was really nice."
