Hometown school in mix for 2015 standout

Several schools from around the country have extended offers to 2015 Atlanta (Ga.) Westminster Academy defensive end Russell Ude since his impressive showing at the Rivals250 Underclassmen Challenge presented by Under Armour, but it took his hometown school a little longer than some of the others.
On Sunday, Georgia Tech added to Ude's offers list, joining the likes of West Virginia, Vanderbilt and several others.

Ude's high school teammate, class of 2013 3-star kicker Harrison Butker, signed with the Yellow Jackets in February and Ude said the two attended several games together last fall.
"I've visited there at least six times," Ude said. "It was pretty cool. I mainly went there because of Harrison but it's cool."
During those visits Ude was able to familiarize himself with the coaching staff, so when the offer came he already knew a little bit about who he was dealing with.
"The coaches are kind of new but they make the team seem real close-knit," Ude said.
Ude takes academics very seriously and he said he'll take a closer look at the programs Georgia Tech has to offer when he visits later this week.
"Business and law are fairly generic but I'm not sure how good their programs are," Ude said. "I'll learn more Friday because I'm probably going to take an unofficial visit there after practice."
