Holt sets up December visits

We had a chance to check out Encino (Calif.) Crespi two way standout D.J. Holt in action last Friday when the Celts took on Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure. Holt showed why he's one of the state's top prospects and told us after the game he has a couple of official visits lined up.
Holt, 6-0, 235 pounds is one of the most versatile players in the West region and could likely play a handful of positions at the next level. He lines up at wide receiver and linebacker for the Celts but also saw time at running back and defensive end during the game.

The Seraphs really took it to Crespi defeating the Celts 40-14 after a devastating loss a week earlier to Oaks Christian.
"They came out and took it to us," Holt said. "We just never got in to a flow and didn't play our game. We're a hard nosed physical team that runs the ball and we never got a chance to do that, they took that away from us. It's really disappointing but I think we'll bounce back and we better because we play a tough Canyon team next week."
On the recruiting front, Holt has a couple of December visits set up.
"I'm going to Arizona State (Dec. 1) and Fresno State (Dec. 15)," Holt said. "I had a visit set to San Diego State a week ago but I had to postpone it because I just had too much going on. I may reschedule it and I'm also looking at taking visits to Cal and Utah.
"All of those schools have offered and then I also like USC, UCLA and Oregon a lot. Oregon sounds like they could be close to offering and I'm hearing from USC and UCLA a lot too but I think they're both just waiting and want to see more film.
"I really want the chance to play defense in college and that's where most of the schools are recruiting me. Some are saying linebacker and others defensive end and I really don't have a preference although I think linebacker is where I'm best suited to play in college.
"Some schools have said they like me for offense as a fullback or tight end/h-back type but I really don't want to play offense in college. That will play a pretty big role in my decision to be honest. It's not going to be the only criteria, I want to go a school where I'm comfortable and a school that has a chance to win but where I'm recruited will play a part for sure."
