Holmes talks Indiana visit

Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin athlete Mike Holmes made an official visit to Indiana this weekend and had a good time on his trip. The visit was enough to put the Hoosiers in his top three, but not enough to vault them into the lead.
"It went real good," he said. "They have a nice program up there. I enjoyed the visit."

Holmes, who is being recruited by IU as a safety, cited several activities that he enjoyed while on the Bloomington campus.
"I toured the campus, hung out with my old teammate Kellen Lewis, talked to the coaches about my place on the team."
Middle Tennessee State, Purdue, Southern Miss, Iowa, Syracuse all are interested in the 5-foot-11, 195-pound athlete. He previously visited Syracuse and Iowa City and with no further visits scheduled, may be closing in on a decision.
"I may make my decision in the next couple of weeks, maybe this week," he said. "Indiana is in the top three. Iowa and Syracuse are also there."
Syracuse is believed to be Holmes' favorite.
Holmes is a two-star rated prospect according to Rivals.com.
