Rockledge, Fla. inside linebacker Johnny Holmes is one of those prospects that your not hearing too much about right now, but come February he could become a very hot topic.
“I have not picked up any new offers lately,” Holmes said. “The main ones that I have right now are West Virginia, Ole Miss, East Carolina and Marshall. I have gotten calls from Miami and Florida too. They told me that they are interested in me, but they are just watching my academic situation.”

“I have not been to any games so far this year,” Holmes said. “Right now I have no plans to go anywhere this weekend or in the near future. I was going to go to the Miami-Florida State game, but it got moved to Friday and we had a game that day so I did not get to go.”
Holmes earned honorable mention honors the past two seasons after racking up 112 solo tackles, 95 assists, 14 sacks, 36 tackles for a loss and seven fumble recoveries as a junior.
“I would say that my top schools are still pretty much the same as it has been,” Holmes said. “The schools on my list are Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, East Carolina, Marshall and West Virginia.”
In his first two games this year he has collected five sacks and 12 tackles. He attended the NIKE camp in Miami in April and also attended Florida’s rising senior camp. At the NIKE camp he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.75 seconds, ran the shuttle in 4.5 seconds, had a 29-inch vertical jump and did 17 reps on the bench press.
“I talked to a coach from West Virginia and he told me that he would call me next week and we would talk about setting up an official visit,” Holmes said. “He said he would give me the dates and let me decide. I am going to take all of my official visits before I make a decision.”
