Holmes makes Big Ten commitment

Defensive end Louis Holmes has committed to Ohio State according to Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard head coach Ken Scott.
"I guess he's going up there this weekend for an official visit," Scott said. "This all happened late, in the last week or so."

"He was offered by Ohio State. Coach (Bill) Conley called and talked to him. Then coach Tressel came down and saw him. Coach Tressel made the offer."
"Louis is going to Ohio State. He plans to sign with them."
The 6-foot-5 and 245 pound Holmes lived in Memphis, Tenn., before moving to Florida last August. Scott said Holmes visited Tennessee and Toledo.
Holmes started at both defensive end and tight end during his senior season at Dillard. He had nine sacks. Holmes also plays basketball.
The one question mark is academics. If he qualifies through the NCAA clearninghouse he will be at Ohio State next season. If not Holmes could go the prep school route.
