Holmes lands BCS offer
Offers are beginning to pick up for Spotsylvania (Va.) Chancellor athlete Chris Holmes. The 6-foot-2, 187-pounder has five offers to date and broke through with one from a BCS team on Friday.
"I was really excited when my coaches told me about the West Virginia offer," he said. "I got it Friday during school.

"West Virginia is a big-time school and I know they usually have a good offense and defense. They fly around."
West Virginia is just the latest offer to join the mix along with East Carolina, Marshall, Ohio and Old Dominion.
Holmes noted he's unsure of a visit to West Virginia soon, but is planning a trip to East Carolina.
"I think I'm going to East Carolina next month for sure, other than that, I'm not sure yet."
In the meantime, he just came off a trip this past weekend to Maryland.
"I just came home from Maryland and it went well," he said. "The coaches were nice, but they didn't say too much about recruiting me really."
Holmes added that at this time he has no favorites.
