Hollingsworth makes his pick

Three-star running back Jay Hollingsworth out of Lee County, N.C. made his decision today. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder elected to head to the ACC. Where did Hollingsworth choose?
"I committed to Duke earlier today around 5:30," he said. "I committed to my recruiter, Scottie Montgomery.

"He was elated and that's all he could say at the time I committed. He was just so excited and then called coach Roof who asked if the news was accurate."
Hollingsworth's decision came down to a few factors.
"I like the academics at Duke. That was very high on my priority list," he said. "Then, it's just an hour from home that was big too. That was especially big for my family.
"As for the school, it's a great environment up there. I'm familiar with it and really like the engineering program. I even talked to one of the students and liked what they had to say."
The choice wasn't all about academics though. The No. 46 running back in the country liked the coaching staff as well.
"I have a great relationship with coach Montgomery. It's like I've known him for years," he said. "I haven't gotten to know coach Roof as much, but he's a pretty good guy."
As for playing time, Hollingsworth believes he'll get a shot pretty early.
"The coaches haven't really discussed it with me, but they did mention they have some older backs that'll be leaving," he said. "That means I would have a chance to play early as long as I show up and prove I can play."
Hollingsworth selected Duke over offers from Virginia, East Carolina, Air Force and James Madison.
