Holland follows his dream

Houston (Texas) Cy Falls wide receiver Roger Holland had pretty much decided where he wanted to go for college some time ago. However, he just needed the scholarship offer in hand in order to pull the trigger.
After heading to the Texas A&M camp this past weekend, the 5-foot-11, 178-pound speedster received that offer from the Aggies. Holland didn't wait much longer than a few minutes to call the coaches and let them know.

"Yeah, I got a text message from coach Jim Bob Helduser to call him, he said they were offering, and I committed," Holland said. "I spoke with coach Fran and my best friend Derrick Stephens had been committed there for a while, so it was just the perfect situation."
Holland said that he got along real well with the coaches while in College Station this past weekend. He feels that his performance earned him that offer.
"I went up there and all the coaches seemed to like me a lot," Holland said. "Derrick had been telling them about me and it just worked out. I found out about the offer and I didn't want to wait."
Holland's father also received a scholarship offer to play for Texas A&M and that also had a lot to do with his decision.
"I grew up an Aggie fan," Holland said. "I just fell in love with the university. It's a crazy experience going to the game and I've always been drawn to it. With my best friend headed there, it just was real easy for me."
Holland also had an offer in hand from Northwestern and was receiving interest from Texas Tech, LSU, Iowa, and others.
