Holbert sets plans for announcement

One of the nation’s elite fullbacks postponed his final official visit this weekend and is drawing closer to a decision.
Four-star Nashville (Tenn.) Brentwood Academy standout David Holbert was scheduled to visit LSU, but did not make the trip.

“I’ve narrowed my decision down to three schools,” he said. “I’m going to choose between Tennessee, Florida and Auburn on Wednesday. I’m not leaning to any particular school right now. They all have their good points and bad points.”
Asked what the “good” draw to each school is, Holbert said: “Auburn has a real tight family atmosphere. I like the players and coaches a lot. Tennessee is close to home, which is real good for my family. Florida is farther away, but I really loved the environment when I was down there.
"They're all pretty close in terms of their winning tradition and all that stuff. It will be a tough decision."
Tennessee coach Phil Fulmer is scheduled to make one more in-home visit this week in an attempt to nail down the in-state star.
Holbert (6-1, 225, 4.6) is rated the No. 4 fullback in the nation by Rivals.com.
He plans to make his formal announcement on Wednesday at noon CT in the Rivals100 Southeast chat session. Be sure to make plans to be here for that big news and other recruiting discussion as we race down the homestretch of the 2004 recruiting season.
