Chesapeake (Va.) Deep Creek defensive end Darryl Tapp decided to do things a little bit more low key than others today when he announced his decision.
"I don't get into press conferences and all that," said the 6-foot-2, 225-pounder. "I chose Virginia Tech today over Maryland, but I didn't do it for the media."
Tapp, who admitted he almost committed to Maryland last week, decided on Tech for some simple reasons.
"I just liked the coaches better," he said. "I had contact with coach Friedgen and my recruiting coach at Maryland, but I never had any contact with their defensive coordinator. At Tech I was always talking to coach Foster."
Tapp also had offers from Virginia and Florida.
