Hokies Jump In On Council

Charlotte (Va.) West Charlotte cornerback Rod Council thought he had only two favorites heading into this weekend's unofficial visit to Virginia Tech. Not anymore.
"Virginia Tech was very impressive," said the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder who took an unofficial visit to Blacksburg, Va. to see the Hokies pound Miami. "The crowd was the craziest I've ever seen and the atmosphere was awesome."

Council had been favoring Notre Dame and Virginia over Michigan until his visit to Virginia Tech. Now it's a three-team race.
"Notre Dame was my first visit, so it was impressive to me and I was kind of in awe," he said. "Virginia I really liked the players and coaches and it's close to home. Michigan was probably too far away so now it's pretty much Virginia Tech, Virginia and ND."
Council, who has 10 interceptions this season to raise his career total to 26, will visit the Hokies officially on Nov. 21 when they face Boston College.
"I should know after that where I'm going," he said. "I will probably announce at the Shrine Bowl."
