Hokies grab WR Deablo

The big weekend for Virginia Tech continued into Monday night when Divine Deablo decided he wanted to spend his college football career as a Hokie. The Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor wide receiver visited the Blacksburg campus over the weekend.
"It feels really good and relaxing," said the 6-foot-4, 207-pound Deablo. "I'm ready to start my football season. A lot of visits, seeing every college I could and seeing how much the Virginia Tech coaches loved me led to this commitment. It's a family environment and the three main coaches for me, Wiles, Burden and Loeffler, they make me feel like the best wide receiver in the world."

The Virginia Tech staff covered all their bases with Deablo on and off the field.
"They really got my mom with the academic part because there is a player on the team right now becoming a doctor and playing football," he said. "That's a lot to do, which means they taking academics really seriously. They really have a plan for me.
"They were telling me that if I come in and work really hard I could be starting the game against Tennessee, which will be the biggest college football game ever," Deablo said. "They said I'll be playing outside and inside receiver. They think I could be a really good fit because I'm a little faster than who they have there now."
N.C. State and North Carolina were the other two finalists for Deablo.
