Hokies get big-time commitment

The Virginia Tech Hokies, hot off a 63-0 pasting of Western Michigan and a great performance against top-ranked USC, received a commitment this weekend from one of their top targets.
"Elan kind of suprised me when he came home and told me he committed to Virginia Tech," said Cheryl Scott, the mother of Hampton (Va.) Phoebus running back Elan Lewis. "He's liked them for quite some time now and told me he just felt comfortable."

Lewis, who has been heavily recruited by many schools since he was a freshman in high school, chose the Hokies over offers from Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland, Ohio State and others.
"He went on his official visit this weekend," said his mother. "His friend and teammate Stephen Friday went with him. I'm not sure is Stephen committed as well, but Elan loved it."
Lewis rushed for 2,442 yards and 40 scores last season. He also earned all-area, all-state and all-region honors as a junior. He is ranked as the No. 3 player in the state of Virginia by Rivals.com and the No. 18 running back in the country.
