Hokies add local OL

The Virginia Tech Hokies added depth to their offensive line of the future this week with a big commitment.
"Ryan returned from his trip to Virginia Tech and decided to commit," said Fork Union (Va.) Fork Union Military head coach John Shuman of his son Ryan Shuman. "He really felt good on his visit and felt that Tech was the best fit for him. He has known Tech offensive lineman Jimmy Marten for years and grew up watching Jimmy play at Fork Union. To follow him to Tech is a great honor."

Shuman, a 6-foot-3, 261-pounder with a sub 5.0-second 40-yard dash time, chose the Hokies over offers from Toledo, Western Michigan and interest from UVA.
"He met with coach Beamer and was excited about committing on his visit," Shuman said. "Neither myself nor my wife made the trip with him, so coach Beamer wanted him to come home, discuss it with us and make it official on Monday. That's what he did."
