The Virginia Tech Hokies added an early commitment for their class of 2005 this week.
"Ed committed to the Hokies on Monday," said Ashburn (Va.) Stone Bridge head coach Mickey Thompson of Ed Wang, a 6-foot-5, 260-pounder who can play many different positions. "He received the offer in the mail on Saturday and committed right away. He would have received plenty of offers had he waited, but he knew he wanted to be a Hokie."
Wang dropped 20 pounds this off-season and is playing tight end this year. He has the frame to carry 300+ pounds and play offensive or defensive tackle or he can stay at his current weight and stick to tight end.
"He's just a big athlete, a big kid who can move well," said Thompson. "He was recruited by coach Ward at Tech but the offensive and defensive line coaches liked him a lot when he was at their camp. He could play anywhere."
