There have been reports that the Virginia Tech Hokies received yet another verbal commitment today. Is it true?
"Not yet," said Virginia Beach (Va.) Landstown head coach Chris Beatty regarding the rumored commitment of wideout Jeremy Gilchrist to the Hokies. "Jeremy was offered by Virginia Tech on Friday and that's where I think he ends up, but as of now he hasn't committed to anyone."
Gilchrist returned from an official visit to Kent State this morning and had a visit set with UConn for January. However, after tonight it looks like he'll be a Hokie.
"I'm a little disappointed because we never said that Jeremy was committed. That information being out there, especially before we talk to Kent State following his visit, was a bit disrespectful to them," Beatty said. "But we'll talk it over tonight and I'm sure Jeremy will want to commit to Virginia Tech. It's a great school and where he wanted to go from the start."
The 5-foot-9, 180-pounder had 87 catches for 1,439 yards with 18 touchdowns as a senior. He is ranked as the No. 44 wideout in the country by Rivals.com.
