Hogue favors one, decision coming

Yonkers (N.Y.) Roosevelt running back Doug Hogue narrowed his list down to Maryland, Penn State and Syracuse a couple months back. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder is closing in on a decision and is leaning towards one of the three at this time.
"I think I'm very close to a decision. I'm probably going to commit in the next couple days," he stated. "Right now I'd say all three schools are still in consideration, but I'm leaning towards Syracuse."

What is making the two-star running back favor the Orange?
"I'm favoring them because I feel real comfortable there," he said. "I still want to talk it over with my parents tonight and tomorrow, but then I'll have a decision.
"I also like the town around the school. The Carrier Dome is great and the energy in that place is overwhelming. The offense they run is great too. I think they do the Denver Broncos I-formation and I'm really comfortable with that and feel I could be very effective for them. Finally, I like that they are a state school and I like the coaches a lot including my recruiter."
Of course, Penn State and Maryland are still in the hunt for Hogue.
"It's pretty equal and I think things could still change in favor of one of those other schools," he said. "I love Penn State. When I was there I saw the wall of all the players that played and that really impressed me most because even if I don't go to the NFL, I'll still be recognized there. I also like the academics and then of course the football and tradition speaks for itself.
"As for Maryland, the campus is beautiful and I have family in Baltimore. I feel very comfortable with their coaches since they are from my area. I also like that the NFL is looking at Maryland a lot more now that Vernon Davis came out of there. Finally, they are a good media market and that is a field I'm interested in possibly pursuing."
