Hogs, Heels, Huskers top safetys list

Little Rock (Ark.) safety Stephen Green is warming up for a busy July on the camp circuit and has formed a list of favorites.
“I went to Tennessee camp, a senior camp, this month,” Green said. “I had a good time there. Coach Caldwell told me he liked me a lot, that they loved my athleticism. I ran one of the best times there. He told me they’d be evaluating me some more and making a decision (on a scholarship) after all their camps were done.

“We went to Vanderbilt on the way there, just to look things over. In July, I’ll be going to Arkansas’ senior camp, Auburn and LSU.”
Green (5-11, 180, 4.4) is one of the top athletes in Arkansas this year. He has offers from Arkansas, Nebraska, North Carolina, Boston College, Vanderbilt and Arkansas State. He’s also receiving heavy interest from Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Tennessee and LSU.
“I’m pretty high on Nebraska, North Carolina and Arkansas right now,” he said. “And if LSU, Tennessee and Ole Miss offer, I think they’ll be there at the end, too.
“I’m kind of wondering about Arkansas, though. They’re not really recruiting me as hard as some of the others have. I haven’t received anything from them in weeks. The same for a couple of my teammates, so we’re really not sure where we stand with them.”
Meanwhile, North Carolina has turned up the intensity.
“I get something from them every day,” he said. “It’s pretty impressive. I like their combination of football and academics. They’ve got a great school.”
Nebraska will likely get a visit from Green during the season.
“I really want to go out there and check things out,” he said. “They’ve got a lot of tradition. That’s the main thing I like.”
As a junior, Green carried the ball 133 times for 932 yards and seven touchdowns. He also caught 26 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown. On defense, he recorded 25 tackles and one interception.
Academically, he maintains a 2.6 GPA and has scored a 19 on his ACT.
