Hoffpauir likes new Pac-10 offer

Zach Hoffpauir has been picking up offers pretty quickly the last few weeks and his newest one from Cal is especially exciting because defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast is so highly respected.
"I like them a lot especially with Clancy Pendergast there," Hoffpauir said.

"He's coached in the NFL and he knows how to coach safeties in the NFL. He's had some of the best so it's definitely a big deal. They had come through for spring ball. Then we've stayed in touch for a while and they ended up offering."
The Peoria (Ariz.) Centennial safety now has offers from Cal, Air Force, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Duke, Navy, Toledo, UCLA, Utah State, Washington and others. Many other programs are showing interest and new schools are getting involved all the time.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound prospect is considering a trip to Berkeley for camp or he might wait for an unofficial visit before his senior season starts. If he cannot make the trip to Cal there's a good possibility he'll take an official trip there this fall.
"I think I'm going to try to go to their camp," Hoffpauir said. "I'm definitely going to take an unofficial up there. One way or another I'm going to get up there."
Hoffpauir just came back from a camp stop at Arizona and he's also considering a trip to UCLA probably just for an unofficial visit, not to camp. He said Penn State, Michigan State, Oregon State and Stanford have been showing him the most interest recently.
"Right now I'm just keeping it open," said Hoffpauir, who said UCLA and Washington will definitely get official visits.
"Like I said, I'd like to take some of my official trips before I make my decision."
In his junior season, Hoffpauir finished with 25 receptions for 372 yards and five touchdowns. He had 73 tackles at safety.
