J.D. Hinnant loved his official visit to Nebraska and the Huskers have clearly emerged as the team to beat in his recruitment.
The three-star offensive tackle from Fountain Valley, Calif., is not prepared to make his commitment yet because he wants to take some other official visits but Nebraska did everything right this weekend and Hinnant has a favorite team.
"They're definitely on top," Hinnant said. "I absolutely loved my experience there over the weekend."
The 6-foot-3, 267-pound prospect picked a good time to visit as Nebraska came from behind to beat Wisconsin, a raucous crowd cheering the Huskers on the whole way.
That definitely did not go unnoticed to Hinnant, who said the entire weekend was memorable but especially game day because it was such an exciting time.
"Saturday was amazing," Hinnant said.
"The game couldn't have been better. The Nebraska fans are the best fans in the nation. It really seemed like they got the team going. They got the momentum set. They were totally insane. I loved them."
Other than the game-day experience, Hinnant also spent time with assistant offensive line coach John Garrison, he toured the business center and academic facilities and saw what it would be like if he ended up at Nebraska.
Everything seemed to go well.
"The weekend was awesome," Hinnant said. "Friday we got to meet with coach Garrison for breakfast and then after that we went to the business center and we met with the business teachers and that was really cool.
"We spent a lot of time at the academic facilities. I knew Nebraska was serious about academics when I saw they have way more academic All-Americans than any school in the nation. I thought that was really cool."
Nebraska was great but Hinnant still plans to visit Oregon in November before making his decision.
A trip to Oregon State is also being strongly considered. Hinnant said he wants to take those trips but added things could change - especially since his time at Nebraska went so well.
