Hillcrest DB stays local

Things are all finished for Dallas (Texas) Hillcrest cornerback Derrius Bell who decided this weekend to stay close to home for his college career.
The 5-foot-9, 157-pounder made a commitment after taking his third official visit this weekend to SMU. Bell says that he had one more visit to Colorado State set for this weekend, but it doesn't look like anything can sway him from his decision.

"I ended up committing to SMU this weekend," Bell said. "First of all, I like coach Phil Bennett a lot. I want to be a part of the program's rise. I want to be one of the people that helped turn it around.
"They treated me real well on the visit and that helped too."
Bell says that he's not taking any other visits.
"I was supposed to go to Colorado State, but I don't think I'm going to take that," Bell said. "I'm pretty sure that this is it for me."
Bell was recruited by SMU coach Joe Tumpkin.
