Detroit (Mich.) King four-star cornerback Lavert Hill had the ability to enroll early in college, but has decided to take his recruitment out through the month of January.

"In January I'll be taking three official visits and I'll be making my decision on Signing Day," Hill said. "I didn't want to feel like I was rushed with the decision on the college I was going to go to, so I just talked with my mom and told her I need to chill out, think about everything and take all my officials."
Hill decided on his Jan. 15 official visit destination a couple weeks ago and he will be headed out to see the USC Trojans that weekend.
"I just want to see how it is out there, what the feel out there is going to be and just talk to the coaches," Hill said. "They play in the Pac-12 and that is a passing conference. I have been watching them, seeing how they are with their DBs and it's pretty good."
The Jan. 22 official visit weekend was decided on last week, and Hill will be traveling up the road to East Lansing to visit Michigan State that weekend.
"Michigan State is really strong in my recruitment," Hill said. "I talk to them mostly every day. Coach (Curtis) Blackwell and Coach (Harlon) Barnett, I am pretty (close) with those guys, and I talk to Coach (Mark) Dantonio too. I just like the way they play defense. They are hard-hitting, their whole team is just winning and their coaching staff is pretty good.
The final official visit Hill will take is also the most recent he decided upon and will take him down to Miami the weekend of Jan. 29 to see Mark Richt and the new Hurricanes coaching staff.
"I just want to see how that coaching staff is with Coach Mark," Hill said. "He actually hit me up on my Twitter saying he was the new head coach and just wanted a chance to meet with us. He sounds like he is a pretty good coach and I know his coaches at Georgia were pretty good."
Hill is coming off his an official visit the weekend of Dec. 12 to Michigan, where his brother Delano Hill is a safety on the Wolverine's defense.
"Michigan is Michigan and it's always going to be a good feeling for me," Hill said. "Just having a chance to meet with Coach (Jim) Harbaugh and my mom - she really liked him and liked Michigan, so that's good. Coach Harbaugh told me they are still going to run their defense like they have and are still going to play Man. I like playing Man, so that's pretty good."
Reports Sunday afternoon had Michigan hiring Boston College's Don Brown for their open defensive coordinator position. Hill gave his take on that news.
"Boston College was one of the top five defenses in the country," Hill said. "If they get him, I would be pretty good with that."
Hill took his first official visit of the process to Tennessee the weekend of Dec. 4. The Rivals250 prospect is coming off a perfect 14-0 season and Division 2 state championship with his Detroit King team this fall.
