Higgs likes three, favors one

Antwon Higgs is a three-star prospect from Pompano Beach (Fla.) High School. He's a big linebacker (6-2, 245) that could grow into a defensive end. For now, most teams like him as a strong-side 'backer. And right now he has a favorite team.
"I know I will visit South Carolina, Louisville and West Virginia for sure," Higgs said.

"But right now I favor South Carolina. They like big linebackers and I have a friend there (Donte'e Nicholls). He tells me good thing about the program and he's actually a good recruiter. My main recruiter is coach (Robert) Gillespie. He's good. First it was all football talk. Now we just talk. I would also love to play for coach (Steve) Spurrier. He's one of the great coaches in college right now.
"I like Louisville a lot. I met their linebacker coach (Bill Miller) early in spring. He has some coaching experience and they just have a good program.
"I also really like West Virginia. I first talked with Doc Holiday and I liked him right off the ball. He's great. They like me as a SAM (strong-side linebacker)."
So is it down to those three schools or are more teams in the picture?
"There are three or four more that I am thinking about. I like Vanderbilt and Purdue too.
I would like to take all my visits before I make a decision but I also know that I would love to play in the SEC.
"I am planning on meeting with my coach next week and talk with him about visits. I know I need to get on it because I am graduating in December."
Higgs will play outside linebacker this fall and he will rush the passer a lot. They will use him as an edge rusher in a 5-2 front.
"I will be a stand up guy that comes after the quarterback. That's exciting. I can't wait."
Higgs won't have to wait long as Pompano Beach opens up with South Florida Prep on August 28th in their Kickoff Classic.
