Herrod to take one last visit

Washington (D.C.) H.D. Woodson safety / wide receiver Donta Herrod visited NC State over the weekend to bring his visit total to two. He is still looking at several schools, but feels one more visit is all it will take for him to make a final decision.
“It went pretty good,” he commented on his latest visit. “The safety coach, he talked some good things to me and I spent a lot of time with him. He said he basically wanted me to come to their school.” He was hosted by freshman running back Reggie Davis and rated the trip an “eight or nine.”

Donta had already taken a trip to Syracuse, so how did the visits compare?
“They were about even,” he said. “The weather is just better in North Carolina.”
NC State holds the lead over his other favorites, but he is not ready to make a decision just yet.
“I think I will take one more visit,” he explained. “It’s between Notre Dame, Michigan State, Marshall, West Virginia, and Temple.” He said he has discussed the possibility with all five schools, but has not set a date.
Herrod recorded 56 tackles, six interceptions, and three fumble recoveries on defense as a senior, and added two punt returns for touchdowns on special teams. He also pitched in three touchdowns as a wide receiver en route to being named the No. 25 prospect in the Maryland/D.C. area by Rivals.com.
He is 6-foot-2, weighs 190 pounds, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds. A very good student, he maintains a 3.2 GPA with a 980 on the SAT.
