Herrod gives Syracuse high marks

Washington (D.C.) H.D. Woodson safety / wide receiver Donta Herrod was at Syracuse this weekend taking in the sights of his first official visit. Although he still wants to take other visits, his first trip met all of his expectations.
“It went pretty good,” he began. “I felt wanted. They made me feel like I would be a part of the team. They showed me a good time.” He rated the visit an “eight or nine” and was hosted by freshman DB Reggie McCoy.

While Michigan State, Temple, Virginia, and Virginia Tech are still schools in contention for his services, NC State (Dec. 12) is the only other visit he has planned. Syracuse will get another opportunity to see him when they come in for their in-home visit this Wednesday.
“They are all even now,” he said of his favorites. “I am looking at the environment and if it is a place I want to go. I also want a good education.” He maintains a 3.2 GPA with a 980 on the SAT.
Rated the No. 25 prospect in the Maryland/D.C. area, Herrod is 6-foot-2, weighs 190 pounds, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds. As a senior he recorded 56 tackles, six interceptions, and three fumble recoveries on defense, two punt returns for touchdowns on special teams, and three touchdowns as a wide receiver.
