Herring sets two more trips

There may not be a better overall prospect anywhere on the West Coast this year than Los Angeles (Calif.) Fremont two way lineman Thomas Herring. At 6-6, 295 pounds, Herring can block out the sun but runs like a deer and has a huge upside.
Herring first caught our eye his junior season where we saw his incredible athleticism up close and personal. In a game against L.A city power Crenshaw, Herring took a short bubble screen over the middle, split the Cougar secondary and raced 60 yards untouched for a touchdown while just about everyone in attendance watched amazed at how fast someone so big could move.

Although Herring plays primarily tight end and defensive end for Fremont, we love his potential as an offensive lineman and feel he could be a future 1st round draft pick as a left tackle down the line. He’s naturally strong, has long arms and with his great feet and balance, it’s tough to imagine the lineman not becoming a dominant college player early in his college career.
On the recruiting front, most feel Herring is locked up for USC and despite strong rumors that he’s already told the Trojan coaches he’s coming, the lineman said he’s still open and will take all his trips before making his decision.
“I already visited Michigan and really liked it,” Herring said. “I’m visiting Miami (Dec. 12) and Oklahoma (Dec. 19). For my last two visits, I’m looking at USC, LSU, UCLA and Washington. I’ll visit two of those and then I’ll be ready to make my decision. USC is my leader and I’m actually going to wear No. 94 in the CaliFlorida Bowl because that’s Kenechi Udeze’s number and I really like how he plays defensive end.”
