Herbig lands dream offer from Stanford

Offensive tackle Nate Herbig was a top performer at the Rivals Camp Series stop in Los Angeles last month and he continued his great offseason with a strong showing at the Stanford camp earlier this week.
The 6-foot-4, 320-pound prospect from Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis impressed the Cardinal so much that he landed an offer Friday.

"I've been working all offseason and the Stanford camp was something I've wanted to do for so long," Herbig said. "Stanford has been a dream school for me, my parents and my grandparents. It's an offer I've always wanted, so it's going to be hard to beat for sure. They have great academics, great football and they send linemen to the NFL. It's hard to beat."
Herbig, though, intends to weigh every option before jumping into a decision. He has a visit set with Washington State this Sunday, and then he'll return home to the island with all the information to make a choice.
"At Washington State I want to see where I would fit in as a freshman and how many guys they're planning on bringing in on the line," Herbig said. "Wazzu has been there since the beginning and they are right there with Stanford, so I hope they can match everything I saw this last week."
Herbig holds offers from seven other programs, including three in the Pac-12 in California, Colorado and Oregon State. He shined at the Rivals Camp Presented by Under Armour among a field that also included USC commit Frank Martin.
"I'm going to go home and think about it a lot," Herbig said. "I have a lot to think about. Cal Colorado and Oregon State that are in there, too, because I'm really interested, but I'm tired of the process and the constant messages. I want to focus on the upcoming season.
"I have to find the best fit for me. I just loved how engaged coach (Mike) Bloomgren was during camp. It was amazing to be coached by him, so I'm looking for the same connection with other coaches."
