Hendrix sets first official visit

O'Fallon, Ill., defensive end Dewayne Hendrix had hoped to attend Florida's Friday Night Lights camp last month, but he has already scheduled a make-up visit... and it will be a big one.
"When they play Arkansas (Oct. 5) I will be there for an official," Hendrix reported.

Earlier this summer, Hendrix noted that Florida was making a move up his list and gaining ground on his leader, Tennessee. It now appears that the Gators have caught the Volunteers.
"They're tied up right now," Hendrix said. "[Florida] has just maintained contact and they are really excited to get me up on campus."
Tennessee is also slated to receive one of Hendrix's official visits, and the four-star prospect continues to be impressed with what they are doing in the 2014 class. He communicates with Volunteer commitments Dillon Bates and Daniel Helm on a regular basis and is looking forward to seeing their product in 2013.
"I will be paying really close attention to Tennessee, looking for a turnaround from last season," Hendrix said. "I expect it to be a great year."
Beyond his top two, Hendrix has not pared his last. He is still open to all schools, but specifically mentioned USC, Kansas State and Ohio State as three more who have piqued his interest. Kansas State is a school he has not mentioned often in the past, but says the relationship there is growing.
"They said they want to get me down and see the campus," Hendrix said. "I have a pretty good interest in them."
O'Fallon has already opened practice for the 2013 season and summer visits are now over for Hendrix. A trip to Missouri in June was the last campus visit he took.
