Henderson adds ASU offer

Former Tennessee defensive end Joe Henderson is up to five scholarship offers and others could be on the horizon as he aims to return to Division I football.
The three-star prospect from Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College has been through the recruiting process before, signing with the Vols out of Cleveland (Ohio) Shaker Heights in the 2014 class but never taking the field, so he has a good understanding of what to expect from college coaches.

Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky and Minnesota were recently joined by Arizona State on Henderson's offer sheet, he said, but visit plans have not been solidified on any front.

WHAT'S NEXT?: The 6-foot-4, 225-pound prospect intends to sit down and sort through the offers later in the season. Hutchinson returns to the field Saturday against Dodge City -- Henderson has piled up 20 total tackles, including 9.5 for a loss and three hurries.
IN HIS WORDS: "My most recent offer is from Arizona State, and Kentucky, Indiana and N.C. State have also shown strong interest," Henderson told Rivals.com. "I haven't set up any visits yet, but still planning on it. I should be making my decision after the season. Right now I'm focused on the football season.
"With ASU, it's coach (Jackie) Shipp that's recruiting me and they have told me they would use me as a Devil rusher. They want to use my speed at rush end to get to the quarterback."
RIVALS' REACTION: Henderson would appear to be a solid fit for that role in ASU's defense, and the numbers he has put up early in the season are evident of that. Academics were a major reason why he had to leave Rocky Top but there is no denying his talent as a pass-rusher. It should be interesting to see which other programs decide to get involved because Henderson has a skill that should translate well to the next level.
